Quetta administration resorts to firing for implementation of COVID19 SOPs

Quetta administration resorted to firing for the implementation of COVID19 standard operating procedures (SOPs) on Sunday evening. Deputy Commissioner Quetta, Major (R) Aurangzai Badini said a large number of employees inside the famous shopping malls and started beating levies personnel. “The mob injured two levies men and snatched weapons from them”, Mr.  Badini said.

Balochistan government forms inquiry committee 

Balochistan government formed an inquiry committee to probe into the shopping mall incident. The committee would submit its report within the next 48 hours to the Chief Minister, a notification issued by the Home and Tribal Affairs department said on Sunday night.

Five injured of the firing incident brought to the hospital, Waseem Baig, the Spokesman civil hospital Quetta said. One injured has received a bullet injury in the leg, Mr. Baig informed. Video shared on social media has shown two policemen opened fire at a shop.

Another video shows people started beating a levies man 

Another video shared on social media shows, a crowd of people beating a levies personnel.

An official handout shared on social media accused the owners of two main shopping centers of violating the COVID19 SOPs despite clear directions of the government. “Both shopping centers remained opened on Sunday despite a complete lockdown”, the official note said.

CM takes notice of the incident 

Chief Minister Balochistan, Jam Kamal Khan took the notice of the incident and directed the administration to review the incident from all sides. Perpetrators of the incident should be brought to justice, Jam Kamal said. He said it was unfortunate that some elements were creating hurdles in the implementation of COVID19 standard operating procedures (SOPs) in the city.

Home Minister takes notice of the incident

Home Minister Balochistan, Ziaullah Langove also took notice of the incident and directed the police to submit a report in this regard. During the sacred month of Ramazan ul Mubarak, none would be allowed to take the law into their hands, Mr. Langove said in a statement after the incident.
