Faizan Jattak murder: 4 policemen arrested FIR lodged

Police have arrested 4 personnel of the Eagle Squad in connection with the murder of Faizan Jattak, a 22-year old young man in Quetta. “Yes, we have arrested policemen and lodged FIR against them”, Muhammad Azhar Akram, the Deputy Inspector General (DIG) of Police told Quetta Voice.
Faizan Jattak seriously injured and then succumbed to injuries when the Eagle Squad of Police allegedly opened fire in Quetta’s Sariab road.
The murder of the Faizan Jattak sparked a protest on Sariab road with hundreds of protesters demanding the arrest of responsible personnel. Jattak’s murder also caused an outrage on social media with people sharing his smiling photos on Twitter and Facebook pages.
Faizan laid to rest amid grief and sorrows in Quetta
On Thursday, the funeral prayer of the young man offered in the Eastern outskirts of Quetta amid grief and sorrows. Thousands turned up to participate in the funeral prayer. People belonging to various political parties, civil society, tribal elders, and others participated in the funeral of Faizan Jattak. Heartbreaking scenes witnessed when the dead body of the young man moved from his residence to the ancestral graveyard.
“I appeal Prime Minister Imran Khan to ensure justice in this case”, Arsalan Jattak, a friend of Faizan Jattak told Quetta Voice. “If he speaks about Riasat Madina then he should ensure justice”, Mr. Jattak demanded.
Two committees formed to probe into the incident: DIG Police
“We have formed two committees to thoroughly probe into the incident”, Muhammad Azhar Akram informed. He said both committees have started working and collecting evidence from the spot.
“As soon as we traveled a bit ahead, they started firing on us because of which my cousin, Faizan, was seriously injured. He died on the spot, while I was injured,” the FIR quoted Jattak’s cousin as saying.
Section 302, 324 etc included in the FIR
The FIR was lodged against the four police officials under Sections 302 (murder), 324 (attempt to murder), and 34 (acts done by several people in furtherance of common intention) of the Pakistan Penal Code. Initial examination of the dead body suggests gunshot wounds of Faizan Jattak’s neck and back.
Chief Minister Balochistan, Jam Kamal Khan also took notice of the incident and ordered the police to probe into the incident. Responsible policemen would be brought to justice, Jam Kamal said in a statement.
