Moon sighted: Eid across Pakistan tomorrow

Eid moon sighted in the country. Eid ul Fitr would be observed tomorrow (Thursday) across Pakistan. Ruet-i-Hilal Committee meeting has just ended regarding the sighting of Eid Moon in the country. Moonsighting reported from Chaman, Gwadar, Dasht Turbat, Kohlu, and other parts of Balochistan. “The committee announces Eid tomorrow”, Maulana Kabeer Azad, the Chairman of the Ruet-i-Hilal Committee told a news conference.

He informed that the moon sighted in Chaman, Turbat, and other parts of Balochistan and Khyber Pakhtunkhwa. He said the committee verified all witnessed and decided to announce Eid tomorrow across the country.

Earlier: The Ruet-i-Hilal Committee is verifying the witnesses across the country. In Chaman: Maulana Muhammad Yousaf, the head of the local committee also received moon sighting witnesses.

According to reports, there have been a few alleged sightings from Swabi in Khyber Pakhtunkhwa and Balochistan’s Dasht and Turbat areas. The Ruet committee is reviewing the veracity of the claims.

However, before the national body makes its announcement, Mufti Shahabuddin Popalzai, who heads the local unofficial moon-sighting committee at Peshawar’s historic Qasim Ali Khan Mosque, declared Eid tomorrow.

Popalzai said his mosque had received 189 moon-sighting testimonies from across KP, adding that the testimonies had been forwarded to the central Ruet committee as well.

Meanwhile, Minister for Information Fawad Chaudhry, who previously served as the science and technology minister, said the age of the new moon was only 13 hours and 42 minutes in Pakistan due to which it was “impossible” to sight the crescent today.
