Murder of journalist: Police arrested 2 accused recovered weapons: Balochistan Minister

Home Minister Balochistan, Mir Ziaullah Langove on Friday revealed that police have arrested 2 accused involved in the murder of a journalist in Quetta. Responding to a question during the Balochistan Assembly session, Mr. Langove said one accused has fled to a neighboring country (hinting Afghanistan) after the murder.

Balochistan National Party (BNP) legislator, Shakeela Naveed Dehwar while speaking on a call attention notice lamented that armed accused martyred a journalist in Quetta in the holy month of Ramazan ul Mubarak. “This was the murder of truth”, she said during the Balochistan Assembly session.

Unknown armed men had killed journalist Abdul Wahid Raisani 

Unknown armed accused had opened fire and killed Abdul Wahid Raisani, a Quetta-based journalist almost a month ago. The journalist community had strongly condemned the killing and demanded the arrest of the culprits involved in the murder.

The Home Minister informed the investigation expanded in the light of CCTV footage acquired by police from the spot. He said the government had taken notice of the incident at that time. Police investigation team also formed to probe into the murder.

Shakeela Naveed criticizes Sariab police

However, Shakeela Naveed criticized the personnel of the Sariab police station and accused them of not taking the matter seriously after the incident. The Home Minister thus assured that law will take its course and that none would be spared in this regard. He said Quetta police have performed well in apprehending the main accused involved in the murder of the journalist.

The Balochistan Union of Journalists (BUJ) had also staged a protest demonstration against the murder of the journalist. The BUJ members had also staged a walk-out from the assembly session.

Legislators also spoke on various issues relating to Balochistan during the session.
