Mashkel Balochistan: 8 killed in gas cylinder blast

At least 8 people were killed in a gas cylinder blast in the Mashkel area of Balochistan near the Pak-Iran border on Monday. According to local Journalist Naseer Ahmed Kubdani, a powerful explosion rocked the mud-blowing town of Mashkel near the Pak-Iran border.

The gas cylinder blast also damaged several shops and left 8 people dead, Levies sources said. Deputy Commissioner Washuk, Shafqat Shahwani also confirmed the incident and said a rescue operation launched in the area. “Gas cylinder exploded inside a wielding shop”, Mr. Shahwani said.

5 victims were Afghan nationals: Shahwani said 

“ Eight people who have lost their lives include 5 Afghan refugees and two Pakistanis belong to Qila Abdullah district,” Mr. Shahwani confirmed. He said that one person was not identified so far.

Blast heard far and wide in Mashkel

The blast wreaked havoc in the area and the sound of the blast heard far-wide, said Naseer Ahmed.

Soon after the blast, nearby shopkeepers started rescue operations, later rescue workers and Frontier Corps (FC) and Levies personnel reached the spot. They retrieved the dead bodies from the debris. Levies and other law enforcers reached the area and launched an investigation into the incident.
