Balochistan opposition threatens hunger strike after a clash with police

Protesting Balochistan opposition members threatened a hunger strike after a clash with police on Friday evening. Police and opposition clashed outside Bijli road police station when police stopped media men from covering the press conference.

“If the police did not change this behaviour, we will start hunger strike inside the police station”, Malik Sikandar Advocate, the Opposition leader in Balochistan Assembly told reporters. Balochistan National Party (Mengal) members Akhtar Hussain Langove, Ahmed Nawaz and others were also present on the occasion.

Police stopped media from opposition’s coverage outside police station 

Opposition parties had invited the media to address a press conference inside the police station. However, the baton-wielding policemen stopped the media from the coverage of the press conference.

“The government cannot tolerate truth”, Akhtar Hussain Langove said. He said the government was using all tactics to suppress the voice of the masses of Balochistan.

Opposition’s protest enters 12the day

The opposition members protest entered the 12th day inside Bijli road police station on Friday. Opposition members offered voluntary arrest after the registration of FIR against its 17 members. The government has withdrawn the FIR registered against the opposition. Moreover, the opposition claimed the government was playing a double game with them.

The opposition accuses government of ignoring their constituencies 

The opposition has accused the government of ignoring the constituencies of opposition lawmakers in the Public Sector Development Program (PSDP). The charge vehemently denied by the government. The government claims to have allocated equal funds for all districts of Balochistan irrespective of opposition and treasury members.

The government negotiating team also called on Amir Jamiat ul Ulema e Islam (F), Maulana Abdul Wasey. The government team discussed all ways and means with JUI provincial amir. No progress made in talks till the filing of this report.
