Qureshi for a political solution of Afghan issue

ISLAMABAD: Foreign Minister Shah Mehmood Qureshi has called for a political solution of the Afghan issue. He expressed these views while talking to an Afghan delegation of political leaders in Islamabad on Monday.
Afghan leaders Younas Qanoni, Mohqiq, son of Ahmed Shah Masood, and other high profile arrived in Islamabad on Sunday.
The foreign minister welcomed the Afghan delegation and thoroughly discussed the unfolding events in the war-ravaged country. Shah Mehmood Qureshi underlined the need for a political settlement of issues relating to Afghanistan.
“Pakistan stands for peace in Afghanistan”, the foreign minister stated. He said from day first, Pakistan has been trying to restore peace in Afghanistan since peace is important for both the brotherly countries.
According to the statement, Qureshi said, “It is necessary that we work together to devise a plan of action for the betterment of Afghanistan and the region.”
“Our aim is [to work for a] peaceful, united, democratic, stable and prosperous Afghanistan,” he said, expressing hope that both the parties would work together to make the process of peace and rapprochement forward in the war-torn country.
He reiterated that Pakistan saw “comprehensive dialogue” as the only way for a political solution in Afghanistan.
“We do not want [Afghanistan’s] neighboring countries to face the effects of turmoil and chaos over there.”
