Protest in Barkhan against non-cancellation of 85 fake domiciles
Yousaf Marri, Daulat Khan Kakar:
Residents of Barkhan district of Balochistan staged a protest demonstration on Thursday against the non-cancellation of 85 fake domicile certificates. Shutter down strike was also observed in the Barkhan against the issuance of fake domiciles.
“Our protest will continue till cancellation of fake domicile certificates”, Shah Zain Khetran, one of the protesters said. The protesters complained that the bogus domiciles were brought to the notice of the administration earlier. Despite repeated requests, the administration has not cancelled the domiciles, they claimed. The government of Balochistan has launched a campaign against fake and bogus domiciles across the province.
Home department forms inquiry committee
The protest prompted the Balochistan Home and Tribal Affairs Department. The Additional Chief Secretary (Home), Arshad Majeed ordered the establishment of an inquiry committee to probe into the matter. The Secretary ordered Mumtaz Marri, the Deputy Secretary to probe into the issue.
The protesters also burnt tires to vent their anger against fake domiciles in the district. The protest also caused the suspension of the traffic in the city. They also chanted full-throated slogans against the provincial government and district administration Barkhan.
“We will not give up our protest”, Mr. Khetran warned. He warned of intensifying protest against the non-cancellation of fake and bogus domicile certificates in Barkhan.
Balochistan High Court (BHC) had also taken notice of fake domiciles in the province. The court had directed all commissioners of the province to submit a detailed report in this regard.
