Govt to establish 72 municipal committees: CM Balochistan

Balochistan government has decided to establish 72 municipal committees across the province to strengthen the local government system. Chief Minister Balochistan, Jam Kamal Khan chaired a high-level meeting, which discussed the forthcoming hearing of local bodies elections at the Election Commission of Pakistan.
Finance Minister, Zahoor Buledi, Sardar Abdul Rehman Khetran, Zamarak Khan Achakzai, Nawabzada Gohram Bugti, and other high ups participated in the meeting.
Speaking on the occasion, Chief Minister Balochistan mentioned that there was an influx of people from rural areas to urban areas of the province. He said very soon 24 municipal corporations would be established across Balochistan.
Balochistan Govt has the mandate to make local bodies demarcations
The government has decided to present the case of Balochistan during the hearing in an effective way. As per the local government act 2010, section 13, the provincial government has the mandate to make local bodies demarcations.
The election commission has also been apprised regard to the Balochistan government’s stance. An all-parties conference was also held regarding reforms in the local bodies system. The recommendations of the APC would also be presented before the provincial cabinet meeting.
Gwadar, Turbat, Hub, Khuzdar, and Chaman would be given the status of metropolitan corporations. This will empower the people at the grassroots level, the Chief Minister concluded.
