Roads/ highways blockade a crime, ordinance issued in Balochistan

QUETTA: Governor Balochistan, Syed Zahoor Ahmed Agha has issued an ordinance, which termed blockade of roads, highways, and streets a crime in the province. The ordinance is called Criminal Laws (Balochistan Amendment) Ordinance 2021.

Those violating this law would be punished for three months, which can be extended to six months, the ordinance issued by the Governor stated. Quetta Voice obtained a copy of the ordinance circulating on social media on Saturday.

“A person who intentionally causes a public nuisance by the stoppage of roads, streets, thoroughfare national highways by means of protest, rallies, processions, and sit-in (Dharna) shall be guilty of public nuisance”, the ordinance mentioned. Whoever is guilty of blocking roads and highways shall be punished for three months, which can be extended to six months with a fine of Rs. 10,000.
