Balochistan High Court cancels funds for private guards of parliamentarians
Syed Ali Shah :
QUETTA: Balochistan High Court (BHC) has ordered the cancellation of funds allocated for the payment of private guards for the parliamentarians and other political figures. A division bench of the BHC comprising Mr. Justice Muhammad Hashim Khan Kakar and Mr. Justice Nazeer Ahmed Langove passed this order on the petition.
Senior lawyer, Syed Nazeer Agha Advocate had filed the petition seeking the order of the court for the cancellation of Rs. 100 million allocated under grant in aid for the payment of private guards reserved for parliamentarians and politicians.
The court ordered an immediate halt to the payment of the money through grants in aid from the government of Balochistan to private guards guarding parliamentarians and politicians. The parliamentarians should hire guards for private companies on their own, the bench ordered.
None can keep more than two guards, the court directed the Balochistan government. The BHC directed the provincial government to spend the money allocated for the security of the parliamentarian under grant aid for the welfare of the masses.
The bench asked the provincial government to make a mechanism with regard to hiring of guards from private companies in Balochistan. The court noted that the uniforms of the private guards should not be similar to the uniforms of the law enforcement agencies. This is paramount to committing an offence.
