Mekran division has topped Balochistan in literacy rate and ranked 8th on the national level as per the 2017 census. Overall the literacy rate as per the 2017 census stands at 43.58 percent. Out of 34 districts, 6 districts in Balochistan have made improvements in the literacy rate.

Mekran division has topped Balochistan as compared to Quetta, Zhob, Loralai, Naseerabad, Rakhshan, Kalat, and Sibi divisions. Similarly, Mekran ranked 8th on a national level in terms of literacy rate across Pakistan.

Kech district scores 62.66 %

According to details, Kech district scored 62.66 %, Panjgur 59.22 %, Quetta, 58.76 %, Pishin 52.97 %, Gwadar 51.97 % and Noshki 51.67 % as per the 2017 census. The remaining districts of Balochistan have performed very low as compared to other districts of the country.

The data shared by the census department shows all three districts of Mekran including Kech, Gwadar, and Panjgur have performed well as compared to other districts of the province.
