Unknown miscreants blew up a polling station in Balochistan’s Kohlu district through explosive materials. Levies sources said the blast blew up the polling station in the Kahan Nasawsham area of Kohlu district.

Levies reached the spot as an investigation into the explosion went underway. In Kohlu, the election commission of Pakistan had declared 63 polling stations were declared extremely sensitive and 39 were declared sensitive.

The number of polling stations in the district is 103. The district administration has deployed over 1,200 levies and police personnel to maintain law and order situation on the eve of local bodies elections.

Bomb recovered in Khuzdar

A bomb planted by unknown miscreants was recovered near a government-run school in Khuzdar district of Balochistan. The school was turned into a polling station on the eve of local bodies elections in Balochistan on May 29 (today). Police and levies personnel reached the spot and started an investigation into the incident. The blast war was heard far and wide.

A blast was also reported near a polling station in Balochistan’s Turbat. No human loss was reported as a result of the blast. Police reached the spot and started an investigation into the incident.

Security has been tightened across Balochistan to maintain the law and order situation on the eve of local bodies elections. Besides police and levies, personnel of frontier corps has also been deployed at all sensitive polling stations in the province.

All political parties are contesting the local bodies elections. Except for Quetta and Lasbella districts, elections are being held in 32 districts of Balochistan.
