In a major breakthrough, the Financial Assistance Task Force (FATF) has acknowledged the commitment of Pakistan to fighting terror financing. The FATF members met in Berlin Germany to discuss and review Pakistan’s status and the country’s efforts to meet the force’s requirements. Pakistan made positive strides and met all action plans, the anti-terror financing task force said.
Hina Rabbani Khar Foreign Minister for State has congratulated the nation on this landmark victory in the FATF. “No matter who takes the credit, but this is a matter of immense pleasure”, she said on Friday evening.

Pakistan had taken a number of steps to curb terror financing. The Federal Investigation Agency (FIA) and other law enforcement agencies launched a crackdown against terror finances and made several arrests across the country. “Pakistan fights terrorism from all angles and aspects”, Hina Rabbani Khar stated.
Delegates representing 206 FATF members and observers are attending the plenary session. The observers include the International Monetary Fund (IMF), the United Nations, the World Bank, and the Egmont Group of Financial Intelligence Units.
Recent reports in the international media also mentioned this “quiet lobbying”, led by China, and one Indian media outlet reported that the plenary session “is likely to decide to move Pakistan out from the list of countries under increased monitoring, commonly known as its grey list”.
