Anti-diarrhea campaign launched in Balochistan: CS

QUETTA: Chief Secretary Balochistan, Abdul Aziz Uqaili on Monday said an anti-diarrhea campaign was underway in the province. The first case of diarrhea was reported on April 17, 2022, in Balochistan’s Dera Bugti district. “Government of Balochistan came into action after we received diarrhea and cholera cases in the Dera Bugti district”, the CS said.

The World Health Organization (WHO) also provided support and assistance to the provincial government at all times and in every way, CS Balochistan mentioned. Cholera, diarrhea and gastro has affected thousands of people in Quetta and other parts of the province. Most of the cases were reported from Zhob, Dera Bugti, Barkhan, Kohlu, Khuzdar and other parts of Balochistan.

“WHO provided emergency medicines, tents, and other essential items to the people affected by rains and floods in the province”, he stated. For the prevention of diarrhea (cholera), it is necessary to administer anti-diarrhea drops to all people during the campaign in the respective districts.

“Keeping people safe from various diseases is the prime responsibility of the government”, Abdul Aziz Uqaili said.
Clean drinking water should be provided to the citizens and the provincial government is taking steps to provide clean drinking water to the people, he assured. The equipment and medicines provided by WHO should be delivered to the affected areas so that the affectees can benefit, he added.

The media has also supported the provincial government in every way and covered every program and hope that the media will continue to cooperate with the provincial government in the future, Mr. Uqaili concluded.
