QUETTA: Gastroenteritis has claimed the lives of two children in Balochistan’s Pishin district. The outbreak of gastro has affected dozens of children in the province’s Kohlu and Pishin districts.
“Two children died of gastroenteritis in Killi Sheikhalzai Pishin”, Dr. Ghaffar, the district health officer in Pishin said. He said the outbreak of gastro has affected dozens of children in the district. District headquarters hospital Pishin had provided medical treatment to dozens of children infected by the gastro.

2 children died in Killi Sheikhalzai Pishin
Dr. Ghaffar informed that the health department has established 24 free medical camps in various to provide medical treatment to gastro-affected children. However, people of the area complained about the lack of medicines and doctors in the district the headquarters hospital.
“We are asked to bring medicines from the market”, Muhammad Khan, a father of a child laments. His child was admitted to the hospital after being affected by gastro.

In Balochistan’s Kohlu district, dozens of children were infected by the gastro. In the second week, a four-day campaign was conducted across the province with the support of the World Health Organization (WHO).
Cholera claims 5 lives in Dera Bugti
It should be remembered that 5 people including 4 children died of cholera in the Dera Bugti area of Balochistan in June this year. 10 people have lost their lives in Zhob and its surroundings during the last month, health officials said.

“The outbreak of gastro and cholera is the result of using contaminated water”, Hafiz Tahir, Secretary of Health Balochistan said. He said the department has declared an emergency throughout the province to cope with the situation.
The WHO has also extended all possible support to the Balochistan health department to make sure timely treatment for the infected children, Mr. Tahir stated. Most cholera, gastro, and diarrhea cases were reported from Kohlu, Khuzdar, Barkhan, Pishin and other parts of Balochistan. These diseases have claimed precious human lives.
