5 out of 6 kidnapped coal miners freed in mountains of Quetta

QUETTA: Five out of six kidnapped coal miners were freed by their captors in the mountains of Quetta on Sunday morning. Unknown militants had kidnapped six coal miners from Balochistan’s coal-rich area Mach three weeks back.

Member national assembly from Swat, Dr. Ibadullah received the freed miners in Quetta. All six coal miners belonged to the Shangla Swat areas of Khyber Pakhtunkhwa. Unknown militants had kidnapped six miners from Mach when they were working inside a coal mine to extract coal.

A large number of relatives and friends were also present on the occasion of the arrival of the freed miners. Sources within the miners’ community said the miners were freed as a result of a tribal jirga that held successful negotiations with the captors.

The fate of the remaining miner is yet to be determined as there was no word about the remaining miner.
