Balochistan High Court (BHC) on Thursday ordered the quashing of the First Information Report (FIR) registered against Shehbaz Gill, the Pakistan Tehrik e Insaf (PTI) leader at Killa Abdullah district of the province. A single bench of the BHC comprising Mr. Justice Abdul Hameed Baloch passed this order on a petition filed by Mr. Gill’s lawyer in the court.

Police registered an FIR against Shehbaz Gill in the Killa Abdullah district of Balochistan for using foul language against State institutions. A citizen identified as Azizullah had demanded of the police to arrest Mr. Gill for inciting violence against state institutions.

No multiple FIRs in one case: Judge

While passing the order, the Judge observed that multiple cases cannot be registered against an accused in one case and allegation. Subsequently, the court ordered the quashing of the FIR against PTI leader Shehbaz Gill in Balochistan.

Talking to reporters at the premises of BHC, Syed Iqbal Shah, the counsel for Shehbaz Gill said justice prevailed and the court ordered the quashing of the FIR against the PTI leader. He said the court order’s copy would be dispatched to Killa Abdullah police for formally quashing of the FIR against Shehbaz Gill.

BHC quashes 8 FIRs against Azam Swati

BHC had already ordered the quashing of 8 FIRs against Azam Swati, another key PTI leader in Balochistan the other day. Police had registered FIRs against Mr. Swati in the Bela, Pasni, Zhob, Khuzdar and other areas of Balochistan. In all FIRs, the applicants had accused Mr. Swati for inciting violence against state institutions.
