Ali Hamza, Syed Ali Shah:

QUETTA: Efforts to end the prolonged sit-in in Quetta remained unsuccessful on Saturday as negotiations between the Balochistan government committee and representatives of the protest committee continued for more than four hours, with both sides still struggling to break the deadlock.

The government delegation, led by Home Minister Balochistan Mir Ziaullah Langove and Provincial Minister Bakht Muhammad Kakar, held detailed discussions with members of the Quetta sit-in committee, families of the martyred police personnel, and representatives of political parties and civil society.

The talks are aimed at addressing the demands of protesters who have been staging a demonstration at Quetta’s main protest venue following the tragic Ziarat incident. However, sources said no major breakthrough has been reached so far, as both sides remain firm on their respective positions.

Political leaders, civil society members, and relatives of the deceased police personnel have been participating in the protest, demanding justice, accountability, and a transparent response to the incident.

Government officials expressed hope that negotiations would lead to a resolution, while protest representatives insisted that their concerns must be addressed before ending the sit-in.

The talks are expected to continue as efforts remain underway to find common ground and resolve the standoff.
