Malak Abdul Wali Kakar appointed as governor Balochistan

Central leader of the Balochistan National Party (BNP), Malik Abdul Wali Kakar was appointed as the governor of Balochistan on Friday. President Dr. Arif Alvi signed the summary about the notification of Mr. Kakar as the Governor of Balochistan.

“My first priority is pleading Balochistan’s case before Islamabad in an effective way”, Mr. Kakar told Daily Quetta Voice in an exclusive interview soon after his appointment.

He said all-out would be made to solve issues relating to Balochistan. The newly appointed Governor stated that Balochistan was facing so many issues and the government would take all possible steps to address the grievances of the masses.

“I will play a role to decrease the number of issues, if not a complete solution”, he assured.

Mr. Kakar is the central vice president of BNP Mengal and the son of seasoned nationalist leader Malik Abdul Abdul Kakar. He thanked the BNP Chief Sardar Akhtar Mengal for nominating him for the position of Governor of Balochistan. “I would try to come up with the expectations of the masses”, Mr. Kakar said.

“I was impressed by the politics of Bacha Khan”, the Governor said.

When asked about his favorite personality, he said, “Khan Abdul Ghaffar Khan was his favorite personality”. However, he said that Sardar Attaullah Khan Mengal was also one of his political mentors along with his father Malik Abdul Ali Kakar. Till his last breath, my father Malik Abdul Ali Kakar was a political ally of Sardar Attaullah Khan Mengal, the newly appointed Governor stated.

The slot of governor in Balochistan was lying vacant since April 13, 2022. Syed Zahoor Ahmed Agha, the then Governor of Balochistan who belonged to the former ruling party Pakistan Tehrik Insaf (PTI) had resigned from his position.

Currently, Mir Jan Muhammad Jamali, the Speaker of the Balochistan Assembly was performing as an acting Governor of Balochistan.
