The highway linking Pakistan with neighboring Afghanistan was blocked at the Khojak top Chaman against increasing incidents of robberies and lawlessness in the area. The traders’ community and the daily wage laborers blocked the highway and suspended all types of traffic between the two countries.

“We want peace and condemn lawlessness”, Muhammad Akram, one of the protesters told Daily Quetta Voice. He said the administration failed to provide protection to the masses.

The protesters had also condemned what they called unnecessary raids of law enforcement agencies at the traders’ godowns. “Traders condemn such raids”, Mr. Akram said.

Long queues of vehicles were witnessed on both sides of the road as thousands of passengers were waiting for the reopening of the road. Women and children passengers were the worst sufferers of the blockade of the highway.
