JIT being formed to probe slain lawyer Razzaq Shar killing: DIG Police

Deputy Inspector General (DIG) of Police, Ghulam Azfar Maehsar on Saturday said a joint interrogation team (JIT) was being established to probe into the killing of senior lawyer, Abdul Razzaq Shar Advocate.

Addressing a press conference at his office, the DIG said a letter would be written to the provincial government to form a JIT to probe into the killing of slain lawyer. Razzaq Shar Advocate, a senior lawyer of the supreme court of Pakistan was killed on Quetta’s Airport Road the other day.

Razzaq Shar was a petitioner in an important case seeking registration of treason case against Imran Khan

Shar had filed a petition in the Balochistan High Court (BHC) seeking registration of treason case against the former prime minister Imran Khan for dissolving the parliament.

“The killing of senior lawyer being investigated from all aspects”, the DIG mentioned. He said the slain lawyer was petitioner in a high profile case. Officials from all law enforcement agencies would be part of the JIT team.

The son of Razzaq Shar, Sirajuddin Advocate has nominated the former prime minister, Imran Khan in the murder case of his father.

The DIG police also informed that police arrested three suspects in connection with the recovery of weapons in Quetta. A robbery was taking place in an arms shop in the city, DIG Quetta Police informed.

CIA police investigated the case

CIA police investigated the incident in a modern way, DIG Police Quetta mentioned. An attempt was made to reach the accused with the help of geo-fencing, DIG Azfar Mehsar added.

He said there was fear that the stolen weapons would not be used in any terrorism or sabotage. An operation was carried out by attaching an official number plate to a vehicle.
