QUETTA: Chief Minister Balochistan, Mir Quddus Bizenjo ordered an inquiry into the prisoners escaping incident from Chaman jail. 17 high-profile prisoners turned on their guards and escaped from Chaman jail on July 3rd this month.
The dramatic and deadly escape attempt left one prisoner dead in Chaman.
CMIT to probe into the escaping of prisoners
Chief Minister Inspection Team (CMIT) has been assigned the task to conduct an investigation into the incident. The CM has approved a summary sent by the Balochistan Home and Tribal Affairs Department, a well-placed source in the CM Secretariat said. He requested anonymity since he was not authorized to speak to the media.
The fleeing prisoners were involved in a series of crimes in Chaman and other parts of Balochistan. The CMIT would conduct a thorough investigation into the incident and submit a report to the CM Balochistan in this regard, the source mentioned.
IG Prisons also ordered an investigation into the incident
The Inspector General of Prisons Balochistan, Shuja Kasi had also taken notice of the incident and ordered a departmental inquiry in this regard. An inquiry committee comprising senior officers has been entrusted to probe into the escaping of the inmates from Chaman jail, located near the Pak-Afghan border.
The source in the CM secretariat did not elaborate that when would the inquiry committee complete its report and submit it to the chief executive of the province.
