QUETTA: Governor Balochistan, Malik Abdul Wali Kakar approved the nomination of Ali Mardan Domki as the caretaker Chief Minister of the province on Friday. The government approved the recommendations sent by the parliamentary committee comprising opposition and treasury members in this regard.

Earlier, the former CM of Balochistan, Mir Quddus Bizenjo had refused to sign the summary of Ali Mardan Domki as the CM of the province and fielded his own two candidates for the slot of CM Balochistan.

Govt and opposition nominate Domki as caretaker CM

The nomination came on the heels of a meeting between caretaker Prime Minister Anwaarul Haq Kakar, Balochistan former CM Jam Kamal, and Domki. Kamal and Domki called on the newly-appointed interim PM in Islamabad earlier on Tuesday.

On August 12, Balochistan Governor Malik Abdul Wali Kakar dissolved the provincial assembly on the advice of CM Bizenjo. Bizenjo has been performing duties until a new chief minister comes in.

Domki is the son Mir Hazoor Bakhsh Domki

Reportedly, Domki belongs to the Lahri area of Balochistan. He is the son of politician Mir Hazor Bakhsh Domki, who served as a senator between 1975 and 1977. Domki did his Masters in Sociology from Allama Iqbal University (AIOU) Islamabad and has served as Tehsil Nazim Lahri and District Nazim Sibi.

Ali Mardan Domki was born on October 13, 1972. His brother Dostin Domki has been a member of the Balochistan Assembly and also served as a minister of state.
