QUETTA: The Counter Terrorism Department (CTD) foiled a major terror bid by seizing an explosive-laden vehicle in the Eastern Bypass area of the provincial capital on Wednesday.

Police sources CTD and security forces conducted a raid on intelligence reports and seized a vehicle loaded with explosives.

Police said more than 35 kilograms of explosives were planted in the vehicle to carry out a major terror act in the city. “Major terror bid foiled”, a senior police officer told Daily Quetta Voice. He requested anonymity since he was not authorised to speak to the media.

CTD personnel timely acted and saved the city from major terror bid, he mentioned. Senior police officials reached the spot as an investigation into the incident went underway.

Bomb disposal squad was also called in the area to defuse explosives, police said. The explosives were seized in the Manzoor Shaheed Police Station area.
