QUETTA: Nawabzada Gazain Marri, a former Balochistan minister and senior politician has said that in a promising turn of events, the province is poised to become the next Dubai or Singapore, thanks to its vast natural resources, strategic location, and ongoing infrastructure projects.

The province’s potential has garnered attention from global players like China, the United States, and Europe, with a focus on foreign investment, Mr. Marri said. Balochistan’s strategic location along the Arabian Sea and its proximity to vital trade routes, including the China-Pakistan Economic Corridor (CPEC), is a unique advantage.

He however stated that Balochistan’s progress, however, comes with a significant caveat – the active involvement of its progressive-minded population. The Baloch people, who have long suffered economic disparity and political exclusion, welcome development projects but insist on a substantial role in the decision-making process, he mentioned.

They demand equal opportunity to express their views and ensure their interests are paramount.

Nawabzada Gazain Marri said this vision for Balochistan emphasizes partnership over passivity. Involving the local population in planning and decision-making is seen as the key to building trust and ensuring sustainable progress.

By making the Baloch people major stakeholders in their province’s development, the collective effort is expected to lead to prosperity, growth, and the betterment of Balochistan as a whole, he added.
