NASEERABAD: Senior Provincial Minister of Irrigation, Mir Muhammad Sadiq Umrani, along with Provincial Irrigation Secretary Hafiz Abdul Majid, conducted an extensive visit to Naseerabad to assess the impact of recent monsoon rains and the resulting flood situation in the division.
During the visit, Minister Umrani held a meeting with the divisional administration, where Commissioner Naseerabad Division, Moinur Rahman Khan, provided a detailed briefing on the current flood situation and the measures being taken to manage the monsoon’s effects. The briefing highlighted the challenges faced by the region, including the risk of canal breaches and damage to drainage systems.
Superintending Engineer Irrigation, Abdul Hameed Mengal, also informed Minister Umrani about the cracks that had developed in canals and their sub-branches. He assured that these cracks have been filled, and further work is ongoing to prevent any potential breaches that could exacerbate the flood situation.
Following the briefing, Minister Umrani, accompanied by Secretary Hafiz Abdul Majid, visited several flood-affected areas within the division. He assured the local population that the government is committed to providing relief to those impacted by the floods. “The government will never leave the victims alone,” Minister Umrani stated, emphasizing that all necessary resources will be mobilized to ensure the safety and well-being of the affected communities.
The recent floods have caused significant damage across Balochistan, particularly in the Naseerabad division, where monsoon rains have led to widespread flooding, disrupting lives and livelihoods. The provincial government’s continued efforts to address the situation include repairing critical infrastructure and ensuring that relief reaches those in need promptly.
