In Quetta, a deadly explosion at the railway station has tragically claimed 24 lives, with dozens more injured. The blast reportedly occurred near the station’s waiting area, causing panic as emergency teams arrived to assist survivors and transport the injured to nearby hospitals. Authorities have initiated an investigation to determine the cause of the explosion and whether any security lapses contributed to the incident.
Balochistan Chief Minister Mir Sarfaraz Bugti condemned the attack, promising swift action to bring those responsible to justice.
Quetta’s Senior Superintendent of Police (SSP) Operations, Mohammad Baloch, confirmed the death toll in a press conference. While he believes the incident was a suicide attack, he stressed that a thorough investigation is necessary to determine the exact cause of the explosion.
According to SSP Baloch, approximately 100 people were present at the railway station platform when the blast occurred, just as a train was preparing to depart for Peshawar. Zeeshan, head of Edhi Rescue Service, confirmed that the explosion took place on one of the station’s platforms.
Balochistan’s government spokesperson, Shahid Rind, issued a statement confirming the deployment of police and security forces to the incident site. The Bomb Disposal Squad is currently collecting evidence to determine the nature of the blast, and a full report on the incident is expected.
