QUETTA: Maulana Abdul Wasey, Provincial Amir of Jamiat Ulema-e-Islam (JUI), strongly criticized the provincial government during a press conference on Wednesday, accusing it of failing to provide security to the public and ensuring effective governance.
He announced his party’s support for the planned wheel-jam strike on November 23, organized to demand the recovery of a 10-year-old kidnapped child, Muhammad Musawir. He emphasized that the provincial government’s inability to address lawlessness and maintain order reflected its incompetence.
Highlighting the Safe City Project in Quetta, Maulana Wasey claimed that 650 out of 830 surveillance cameras were non-functional, describing it as a “mega scam” and calling for an immediate investigation. “This level of negligence showcases the worst governance,” he added.
Maulana Wasey also criticized the allocation of Balochistan’s land to people from other provinces, asserting that his party would not tolerate such practices. He expressed strong opposition to the continued closure of border trade routes with Afghanistan and Iran, stating that it had severely impacted the livelihoods of residents in border districts.
“Our party supports smooth trade with neighboring countries to ease the suffering of border communities,” he remarked, while pledging to raise issues of lawlessness and governance in the National Assembly and Senate.
