RAWALPINDI: Chief of Army Staff (COAS) General Syed Asim Munir, NI (M), visited the International Defence Exhibition and Seminar (IDEAS-2024) at the Karachi Expo Centre.

During his visit, the COAS praised the active participation of defense manufacturers from friendly nations and reviewed an impressive display of arms and equipment by both domestic and international exhibitors, the Inter-Services Public Relations (ISPR) said. 

A total of 557 exhibitors are participating in the exhibition, including 333 international exhibitors and 224 domestic exhibitors.

Exhibitors from 36 countries have established stalls, with 17 countries participating for the first time. Over 300 foreign delegates from 53 countries attended the event, expressing their confidence in the exhibition and Pakistan’s defense industry.

One of the key highlights was the inauguration of the Shahpar-III, a state-of-the-art combat Unmanned Aerial Vehicle (UAV) developed by Global Industrial Defence Solutions (GIDS) Pakistan.

The Shahpar-III features advanced capabilities, including an operational ceiling of 35,000 feet, over 24 hours of endurance, and compatibility with various munitions, including bombs, missiles, and torpedoes.

During the event, the COAS held meaningful interactions with foreign military officials and defense delegates, fostering international collaboration.

The 12th edition of IDEAS-2024, which began on 19 November, will conclude on 22 November 2024.

Earlier, upon his arrival in Karachi, COAS General Asim Munir was warmly received by Lieutenant General Babar Iftikhar, Corps Commander Karachi.
