A field general court martial (FGCM) has been initiated against Lt Gen Faiz Hamid (Retd) under the provisions of the Pakistan Army Act, the military’s media wing said on Tuesday. He has been formally arraigned on charges of engaging in political activities, violating the Official Secrets Act, misuse of authority, misuse of government resources, and causing wrongful loss to individuals, the Inter-Services Public Relations (ISPR) said.

Additionally, his involvement in events leading to agitation and unrest, including the May 9, 2023, incident, is being separately investigated. These incidents are allegedly linked to actions taken at the behest of and in collusion with vested political interests to foment instability.
Lt Gen Faiz Hamid (Retd) is being provided with all legal rights as per the law.
