Ziarat, Khanozai, Kan Mehtarzai, and other northern parts of Balochistan received the first snowfall of the winter season, blanketing the mountains with a white carpet. The snowfall has intensified the cold wave across valleys in the region, with temperatures dropping significantly.

The Provincial Disaster Management Authority (PDMA) has placed its teams and district administration officials on high alert to tackle any emergencies. “We have deployed heavy machinery at Khojak Pass, Kharan-Mastung Highway, and other vulnerable locations to ensure safe travel and avoid disruptions,” a PDMA official stated.

Local residents expressed joy over the snowfall. “The snow has transformed Ziarat into a winter wonderland. This is the beauty of our land, and we welcome it every year,” said Abdul Malik, a resident of Ziarat. Similarly, Ghulam Rasool from Kan Mehtarzai said, “The snowfall is a blessing for our crops and orchards. It rejuvenates life in the valleys.”

Environmental expert Wali Mohammed described the snowfall as a positive sign for the region. “Snowfall is a good omen for agriculture and the climate. It replenishes underground water, benefits standing crops, and boosts the overall ecosystem,” he remarked.

However, travelers have been advised to exercise caution. “The weather conditions are expected to worsen tonight, especially in areas like Killa Saifullah. We strongly advise avoiding night travel, particularly on the Quetta-Islamabad route,” a PDMA advisory stated.

As the snowfall continues, locals hope for more precipitation to further benefit their livelihoods while enjoying the scenic beauty of the snow-covered northern Balochistan. Stay tuned for updates with Daily Quetta Voice.
