QUETTA, March 6: Governor Balochistan Jafar Khan Mandokhail has stressed the need for financial transparency and accountability in universities, urging the implementation of internal and external audit mechanisms to eliminate financial irregularities. He emphasized that every vice chancellor must ensure timely Senate and Syndicate meetings, as well as the smooth conduct of examinations, while avoiding unnecessary expenditures. Negligence in this regard will not be tolerated, he warned.
He made these remarks while presiding over the second Senate meeting of the University of Gwadar at Governor House Quetta. The meeting was attended by Provincial Education Minister Raheela Hameed Khan Durrani, Higher Education Secretary Saleh Muhammad Baloch, University of Gwadar Vice Chancellor Prof. Dr. Abdul Razzaq Sabir, University of Balochistan Vice Chancellor Prof. Dr. Zahoor Ahmed Bazai, Principal Secretary to the Governor Hashim Khan Ghilzai, Pro-Vice Chancellor Prof. Dr. Syed Manzoor Ahmed, and other Senate members.
Governor Mandokhail appreciated the new proposals put forward during the meeting, stating that they would help in strategic planning for the university. He highlighted that while vice chancellors are responsible for overseeing administrative affairs, academic programs, and research activities, the chancellor plays a crucial role in policy oversight, strategic guidance, and representing the university in key events.
He expressed satisfaction that the University of Gwadar is well-positioned to contribute to the development of the blue economy and marine sciences. He stressed the importance of collaboration among public sector universities in Balochistan, particularly in research, to avoid redundancy and enhance academic cooperation.
At the conclusion of the meeting, Governor Balochistan distributed commemorative shields among the Senate members.
