Quetta, March 21: The Baloch Yakjehti Committee (BYC) has accused police of using excessive force against peaceful protesters in Quetta, while Balochistan government spokesman Shahid Rind stated that demonstrators resorted to stone-pelting, injuring police personnel, including a lady constable.

According to BYC, Police opened fire on a peaceful protest at Saryab Road, killing protesters and injuring several, including seven critically. The BYC has called for a shutter-down and wheel-jam strike across Balochistan in response to the incident.

On the other hand, Shahid Rind stated that police acted in accordance with the law to clear the blocked national highway. He claimed that protesters attacked law enforcement personnel, leading to injuries among police officers. He added that the Red Zone has been sealed to maintain law and order.

Meanwhile, the National Party and Balochistan National Party-Mengal have condemned the use of force against demonstrators, urging restraint and dialogue.

The situation remains tense in Quetta as both sides maintain their positions regarding the events that unfolded.
