Qaseem Shah:
QUETTA: The deportation of Afghan refugees from Quetta and other parts of Balochistan has entered its second phase, following a decision by the federal government.
The government has made all necessary arrangements across the country to make sure deportation of Afghan refugees to Afghanistan.
Authorities have made necessary arrangements to facilitate their repatriation, with operations underway in Sariab Road, Hazarganji, Eastern Bypass, Western Bypass, Pashtunabad, and other areas.
Deputy Commissioner Quetta, Saad Bin Asad, stated that around 76,000 Afghan refugees have been identified in different districts and streets of Quetta. “Their biometric verification is being conducted before deportation to maintain proper records,” he added.
Security forces and local administration are actively overseeing the process to ensure an orderly implementation. The repatriation drive is part of the federal government’s policy to send undocumented Afghan nationals back to their home country.
The Chaman district administration has finalized preparations for the deportation of Afghan refugees ahead of Eidul Fitr. A database camp has been established at the LPG terminal near the Bab-e-Dosti border crossing to facilitate the process.
According to officials, the camp will not only serve as a transit point for data registration but also provide temporary shelter for Afghan families in case of border closures. Biometric verification of Afghan nationals is being conducted through NADRA at the camp to ensure proper documentation before deportation.
Deputy Commissioner Chaman stated that over 3,500 Afghan families are registered in the district. While two families have voluntarily returned, Levies officials have moved eight others to holding camps. After completing their biometric verification and processing, these families will be sent back to Afghanistan.
The repatriation efforts are part of a broader strategy to systematically manage the deportation of undocumented Afghan refugees from the region.
