Manan Mandokhail:

QUETTA: Jamaat-e-Islami’s central leader Liaqat Baloch has condemned the brutal killing of innocent tourists in Pahalgam, located in Indian-occupied Kashmir, holding the occupying Indian forces directly responsible for the tragic incident.

During a press conference in Quetta, accompanied by provincial leaders, Liaqat Baloch announced that Jamaat-e-Islami will host a major All Parties Conference in Islamabad to spotlight the longstanding issues facing Balochistan. He emphasized that the event will bring together leaders from all political parties and key sectors of society to forge a united voice for the province.

Baloch criticized the federal government’s continued neglect of Balochistan, warning that ignoring the legitimate concerns of its people is becoming a serious threat to the country’s national cohesion and security.

He also condemned India’s attempts to unilaterally scrap the Indus Waters Treaty, stating that the agreement is backed by international guarantors and cannot be revoked by New Delhi alone.

Speaking on Pakistan’s internal affairs, Liaqat Baloch lamented that democracy has been reduced to a joke, with the people’s electoral rights being repeatedly undermined. He said powerful institutions like the military, judiciary, and bureaucracy have overshadowed democratic governance.

In a powerful show of solidarity, Jamaat-e-Islami announced nationwide protests on April 26 in support of the Palestinian people, urging citizens to join the movement for justice and human rights.

He further demanded an urgent meeting of the Council of Common Interests (CCI) to address provincial concerns and ensure a fair distribution of national resources.

Ending his address, Liaqat Baloch reiterated the party’s demand for the immediate release of all political detainees, especially incarcerated women, calling it a test for those claiming to uphold democratic values.
