Manan Mandokhail:

The Colleges, Higher and Technical Education Department of the Balochistan government has issued strict warnings to two teachers for calling a boycott of the 2025 Intermediate Annual Examinations.

According to official notices, Assistant Professor Zahid Hussain (Patron-in-Chief, BPLA), Lecturer Abdul Quddus (President, BPLA), and Shamsullah have been directed to withdraw their boycott call within 48 hours and comply fully with government directives.

The notices stated that the individuals violated the Balochistan Government Servants (Conduct) Rules 1979, as well as clear orders issued by the High Court, by calling for a boycott under the platform of an unregistered group, the Balochistan Professors and Lecturers Association (BPLA). They have also been accused of breaching the Constitution of Pakistan, 1973.

The warning further outlined serious consequences if they fail to comply within the given timeframe:

  • Departmental action under the Balochistan Employees Efficiency and Discipline Act (BEDA) 2011, which may include dismissal from service.
  • Absence from exam duties will be considered a “service break,” negatively impacting seniority and future promotions.
  • Government-provided accommodation could be withdrawn.
  • Potential disciplinary and punitive action could also be initiated.

The stern notices were issued under the signature of Saleh Muhammad Baloch, Secretary of Colleges, Higher and Technical Education Department, who emphasized that full legal proceedings would be launched if instructions were not followed.

The government acted swiftly after concerns were raised that the teachers’ boycott could jeopardize the future of over 100,000 students across the province, prompting urgent measures to protect the academic schedule and maintain educational stability.
