Syed Ali Shah: Quetta – June 6, 2025: A significant cabinet reshuffle is expected in Balochistan following the passage of the provincial budget for the fiscal year 2025-26, according to well-placed government sources. This move aims to enhance governance, improve efficiency in political appointments, and address rising concerns about administrative spending and ministerial perks and privileges.

Sources revealed that the reshuffle was initially planned post-Eid-ul-Adha, but the provincial leadership has decided to wait until the budget is passed by the Balochistan Assembly. The reshuffle is seen as part of broader governance reforms targeting accountability and public service delivery.

Insiders confirmed that portfolios currently held by non-elected members—especially women on reserved seats—are likely to be reassigned to elected lawmakers. Similarly, several non-elected advisers drawing salaries and allowances equal to provincial ministers may be removed to curb unnecessary government expenditure.

At least three to four current ministers are expected to be replaced. The reshuffle has reportedly been discussed in detail with coalition partners, particularly in light of the upcoming Senate elections in 2027, where the influence of elected representatives is critical.

This strategic shift also aims to streamline the allocation of development funds and improve budget transparency amid increasing public scrutiny of government salaries, ministerial benefits, and budget deficits.

The expected changes could reshape Balochistan’s political landscape and enhance the effectiveness of provincial governance, aligning with ongoing fiscal reform efforts and public demand for transparency.
