Gwadar – June 14, 2025: In a major step toward enhancing high-value regional logistics, Gwadar Port welcomed its second commercial cargo ship under the Afghan Transit Trade agreement. The vessel, MV ASL ROSE, arrived from Townsville Port, Australia, carrying a valuable shipment of 20,000 metric tons of Di-Ammonium Phosphate (DAP) fertilizer, an essential agrochemical commodity for Afghanistan’s agriculture sector.
The high-volume fertilizer cargo was imported by M/S AGVEN Private Limited, signifying a growing shift in regional supply chain management and trade route diversification, with Gwadar positioning itself as a future-ready transit and logistics hub.
Previously, the first Afghan transit vessel, MV Beyond 2, docked at Gwadar on February 4, 2025, laying the groundwork for sustainable, cost-effective freight transport between South Asia and Central Asia.
Port officials highlighted the ship’s efficient berthing, unloading speed, and state-of-the-art port infrastructure, reaffirming Gwadar’s role in international maritime trade and logistics services. The Economic Coordination Committee (ECC)’s recent decision on policy facilitation has been pivotal in enabling such seamless operations.
According to a spokesperson, Gwadar is poised to become a strategic trade corridor, offering secure, fast, and low-cost cargo transportation for Afghanistan and Central Asian countries. The increase in commercial freight traffic, infrastructure investments, and policy support sends a strong signal to foreign investors, supply chain operators, and logistics companies seeking emerging market opportunities.
