Islamabad – Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif on Sunday met Ikramullah Khan, a 13-year-old from flood-hit Killa Saifullah who captured national attention last year when he told the premier, “Give us education, we do not need any tents.”
Ikramullah, who belongs to an extremely poor and marginalised family, had impressed the prime minister during a 2022 visit to a flood relief camp with his fluency in Urdu and English and his heartfelt plea for better schooling in his area. At the time, PM Shehbaz had promised to ensure his admission in a reputable educational institution.
Today, Ikramullah called on the prime minister in Islamabad after securing third position in the Rawalpindi Board of Intermediate and Secondary Education exams. The premier warmly congratulated the young student for his outstanding achievement and praised his determination to pursue studies despite immense challenges.
“Your hard work has made not only your family but all of Pakistan proud,” PM Shehbaz told Ikramullah. “When I met you in Killa Saifullah, I saw the spark of a leader in you — and today you have proven it.”
The prime minister assured Ikramullah of continued support for his education, expressing hope that he would go on to achieve even greater success.
Ikramullah thanked the prime minister for keeping his promise and said he would continue to work hard to fulfill his dream of serving the country.
