ISLAMABAD, September 7, 2025 – The Federal Government has appointed Mr. Muhammad Tahir, a BS-21 officer of the Police Service of Pakistan, as the new Inspector General of Police (IGP) Balochistan.

According to an official notification issued by the Establishment Division, Mr. Tahir was previously serving with the Government of Khyber Pakhtunkhwa and has now been transferred to Balochistan with immediate effect under Section 10 of the Civil Servants Act, 1973.

The notification, signed by Deputy Secretary Ejaz Ahmed, confirms that Muhammad Tahir will assume charge as IG Balochistan until further orders.

This appointment comes as part of broader administrative reshuffles by the Federal Government aimed at strengthening provincial law enforcement and improving security management in Balochistan — a province facing complex security and governance challenges.

Copies of the notification have been circulated to the Prime Minister’s Office, President’s Secretariat, Cabinet Division, Establishment Division, and Chief Secretaries of all provinces, ensuring official communication across key departments.

Observers note that Tahir’s appointment as IG Balochistan will play a pivotal role in reinforcing policing efforts in the strategically vital province.
