From Our Correspondent: Turbat, Balochistan:

The vibrant Cultural and Literary Festival in Turbat has created history in Balochistan, with book sales crossing an astonishing Rs. 6 million. Organizers confirmed that this is not only the biggest book-selling event in the province’s history, but also one of the most successful literary gatherings across Pakistan.

Thousands of students, writers, poets, researchers, and citizens thronged the festival, turning Turbat into a hub of knowledge and creativity. For many, the sight of bookstalls bustling with young readers was nothing short of a cultural revival.

Former Chief Minister Dr. Abdul Malik Baloch, addressing participants, underlined the importance of such events for the province’s intellectual growth. “This festival has shown that our youth are deeply connected to education and culture. It is a message of hope and resilience for all of Balochistan,” he remarked.

Provincial Minister Mir Zahoor Buledi also praised the initiative, saying that literature and cultural events are key to promoting harmony, peace, and social unity. He highlighted that Balochistan’s real strength lies in its diversity and intellectual traditions, which must be celebrated on such platforms.

Students at the festival described the experience as inspiring. “We never imagined that books could attract such crowds in Turbat. It motivates us to read more, write more, and keep our culture alive,” shared a university student who eagerly bought several books.

The three-day festival featured book exhibitions, poetry recitals, panel discussions, and cultural performances, with a special focus on the Makran belt, known as the intellectual capital of Balochistan.

With record-breaking book sales and massive public participation, the Turbat Cultural Festival has set a new standard for literary and cultural celebrations in Pakistan.
