Quetta — In line with the vision of Chief Minister Balochistan Sarfaraz Ahmed Bugti and under the special instructions of Administrator Quetta Mujeeb-ur-Rehman Qumbrani, the Metropolitan Corporation Quetta (MCQ) has initiated comprehensive and effective operations against illegal and unapproved constructions to ensure full compliance with the Building Rules 2022.

 

The Anti-Encroachment Cell, led by Chief Officer Dilawar Khan, carried out detailed inspections in various areas of the city, uncovering multiple violations and taking on-the-spot enforcement actions.

 

According to the MCQ spokesperson, violations were identified at the following locations:

1. Ali Bhai Road (near Civic Center Plaza): Violation — Double basement, unapproved building plan

2. Khudadad Road (opposite Dubai Marriage Hall): Violation — Unapproved building plan

3. Kowari Road Plaza: Violation — Double basement, unapproved building plan

4. Masjid Road (near APWA School): Violation — Double basement, unapproved building plan

5. Kareemuddin Street (Girdat Singh Road): Violation — Unapproved building plan

6. Multiple shops on Masjid Road: Violation — Unapproved building plan

The Metropolitan Corporation Quetta has immediately halted all illegal construction activities and issued notices to the responsible parties, initiating legal proceedings.

Administrator Mujeeb-ur-Rehman Qumbrani stated that illegal constructions not only damage the city’s aesthetics but also pose serious public safety risks. Since Quetta lies in a sensitive seismic zone, the construction of double basements is strictly prohibited under Building Rules 2022.

He emphasized, “The enforcement of law, safety of citizens, and organized urban development are our top priorities.”

He further added that the Metropolitan Corporation Quetta remains fully committed to safe and sustainable urban development, urging builders, engineers, and citizens to fulfill all legal requirements before construction, ensuring that Quetta’s progress continues on strong and safe foundations.
