QUETTA: A horrifying incident in Musakhail, Balochistan, has raised serious human rights concerns after six individuals accused of theft were forced to walk on burning coals in a local vigilante act. The shocking event has drawn nationwide condemnation for its inhumane and unlawful nature.
Chief Minister of Balochistan, Mir Sarfaraz Bugti, has taken strict notice of the case, expressing outrage over this cruel practice carried out under a traditional ritual. Authorities confirmed that six main suspects have been arrested in connection with the incident.
According to Deputy Commissioner Musakhail, Razaq Khan Khajak, the incident occurred after local shopkeeper Gulah Jan accused six individuals of stealing 20,000 Pakistani Rupees. A small local jirga reportedly decided that the suspects should be punished by walking over burning coals.
Investigations revealed that a man named Ghulam Muhammad prepared the blazing embers for this ritual. All six suspects are in custody, and two additional individuals have been identified and are expected to be arrested soon.
The Balochistan Home Department has confirmed that strict legal action is underway against all those involved, emphasizing the government’s commitment to uphold the law and protect human rights.
