News Desk: Chief Minister Mir Sarfraz Bugti chaired a meeting of the governing body of the Gwadar Development Authority in Quetta, where key administrative and financial matters were reviewed.
The governing body approved the authority’s annual budget during the session. However, the chief minister directed that a special audit of the Gwadar Development Authority (GDA) be conducted to ensure transparency and accountability.
He instructed the Finance Department Balochistan to carry out a comprehensive audit of GDA’s financial affairs and present a detailed report.
Mir Sarfraz Bugti stressed that it is essential for development authorities to become financially self-sustaining and generate their own resources instead of relying heavily on government support.
Expressing concern, he noted that GDA’s annual revenue is about Rs70 million while its expenditures have reached nearly Rs870 million, describing the gap as alarming.
The chief minister emphasized that institutional reforms and improved financial management are necessary to support the development of Gwadar. He added that comprehensive reforms will be introduced to make the authority more effective and financially stable.
