A high-level meeting chaired by Secretary Forest and Wildlife Department, Imran Gichki, was held on Tuesday to evaluate the progress made toward establishing an Endowment Fund dedicated to the conservation and protection of the historic Ziarat Juniper forests.
The session was attended by representatives of relevant government departments, environmental experts, conservation organizations, and other stakeholders involved in forest management and environmental protection.
During the meeting, participants reviewed developments related to the formation and operational structure of the Endowment Fund. Discussions focused on the current status of financial contributions, the governance framework being developed for the fund, and mechanisms designed to ensure transparency and efficient utilization of financial resources.
Officials also explored strategies to strengthen and expand the Endowment Fund so it can function as a sustainable financial platform for long-term conservation efforts. The forum considered proposals aimed at improving resource mobilization, enhancing coordination among institutions, and encouraging partnerships with both public and private sector stakeholders.
Participants emphasized that a strong and effectively managed Endowment Fund would significantly support conservation programs, ecological restoration activities, and community-driven environmental initiatives. Such measures, they noted, are essential for preserving the centuries-old Juniper forests of Ziarat and protecting one of the region’s most unique natural ecosystems for future generations.
