Quetta: Aurat Foundation, in collaboration with UN Women and the German Embassy, organized a significant training session for young women lawyers on March 31, 2026, at the Quetta Chamber of Commerce. The session aimed to promote women’s participation in the legal sector, enhance professional skills, and provide awareness about career opportunities in the judiciary.

Young women lawyers from across Balochistan participated actively and described the session as highly beneficial for their legal careers. Key topics discussed included the process of judicial appointments, practical challenges in legal practice, courtroom procedures, and the role of women in the justice system.

Director of the Balochistan Judicial Academy, Ameenullah Kasi, appreciated the increasing participation of women in the legal field, stating that their inclusion is essential for building a transparent, fair, and inclusive justice system.

Aurat Foundation representative Yasmeen Mughal introduced ongoing gender equality initiatives, while Professor Faiza Mir highlighted the importance of mentorship, professional networking, and practical strategies for success in legal careers.

Advocate Kamran Domki provided detailed guidance on judicial appointment procedures, eligibility criteria, and interview processes. He also discussed essential aspects such as case preparation, effective argumentation, and courtroom etiquette.

The session also emphasized the role of modern technology and artificial intelligence (AI) in the legal field. Muhammad Irfan explained how AI tools can assist in legal research, case drafting, and analysis of judicial decisions, particularly in gender-based violence (GBV) cases.

Gender expert Fauzia Shaheen discussed laws related to women’s rights, their implementation, and challenges within the gender justice system in Balochistan. She stressed the need for institutional reforms and gender-sensitive policies.

The program included interactive activities, role plays, and Q&A sessions, where participants shared experiences and discussed professional challenges and solutions. The attendees noted that the session significantly boosted their confidence and provided valuable guidance for career advancement.

In conclusion, participants thanked Aurat Foundation and UN Women and requested the continuation of such training programs, as they play a vital role in empowering women lawyers and enabling them to take on leadership roles in the judiciary, prosecution, and other legal institutions.
