Quetta, April 2, 2026: Chief Minister Mir Sarfraz Bugti has expressed satisfaction over the visible progress in Balochistan, saying that ongoing institutional reforms and better governance are finally delivering real improvements in public services.

Speaking on Thursday, the Chief Minister revealed that complaints about teachers not showing up at schools and doctors missing from hospitals have dropped sharply to less than one percent over the past three months. “This is clear proof that our monitoring system and effective governance measures are working,” he said in a post on X.

Mr Bugti called this development a “real and practical example of good governance.” He noted that, for the first time in the province’s history, the longstanding and frustrating issue of staff absenteeism in education and health sectors is being addressed meaningfully. The resulting improvement in education and health services has started restoring people’s confidence in the government, he added.

He recalled that absenteeism was once one of the top complaints raised by citizens during open courts (khuli kacheris). Thanks to a well-planned strategy, strict oversight, and swift administrative action, the situation has now largely been brought under control. “Attendance in schools and hospitals has improved significantly, which is leading to better service delivery for the people,” the Chief Minister said.

According to official figures shared by Mr Bugti, 412 open courts were held across Balochistan’s 36 districts in the last nine months, receiving a total of 3,675 complaints. A large number of these were related to closed facilities and staff absenteeism. However, in March alone, out of 871 complaints, only four were about absenteeism — a strong indicator of how effective the government’s reforms have been.

The Chief Minister said this sharp decline shows that the administration is now responding to public grievances quickly and efficiently. With the absenteeism issue mostly resolved, citizens have begun raising other important service delivery matters, which the government is tackling proactively.

Mr Bugti specially appreciated Chief Secretary Shakeel Qadir Khan and the entire administrative team for their dedication in implementing these reforms. He highlighted that regular review meetings at the secretariat, divisional, and district levels have played a key role in achieving these results.

Reaffirming his government’s commitment, the Chief Minister said the focus remains on making every school and hospital fully functional with staff present at their posts. “Ensuring transparency and accountability in governance will continue to be our top priority,” he added.
