Web Desk: The Balochistan High Court has taken strong notice of the alleged death of a young man in police custody, summoning senior police officials and ordering a transparent investigation into the incident.
The case (C.P No. 444/2026) was heard by a division bench comprising Chief Justice Justice Muhammad Kamran Khan Mullahkhel and Justice Justice Muhammad Najamuddin Mengal on April 14, 2026.
According to the petitioner, the deceased, Hafiz Israr Ahmed, was arrested by the Eagle Squad. Six days later, police informed the family that he had allegedly committed suicide in the lock-up. However, a doctor at Bolan Medical College Hospital declared the death “unnatural,” raising serious concerns.
The case gained further attention after images of the body surfaced, intensifying suspicions among family members. The petitioner also accused police and relevant authorities of failing to cooperate in ensuring a fair and transparent investigation. It was revealed in court that despite filing an application, no action was taken by the Inspector General of Police.
The court has directed the Advocate General’s Office to submit a comprehensive report and ordered that all available evidence be presented. It also summoned the SP Sariab, SHO Kachhi Baig, and SHO New Sariab to appear in person at the next hearing.
Additionally, reports have been sought from the Session Judge Sariab and Judicial Magistrate-II, while the court’s inspection branch has been instructed to take immediate steps.
The hearing has been adjourned until April 21, with the court emphasizing the need for a transparent and impartial investigation.
