Web Desk: Iranian President Masoud Pezeshkian has reaffirmed that Iran is not seeking to develop nuclear weapons and is willing to provide assurances to the international community as negotiations with the United States over Tehran’s nuclear programme continue.

Speaking amid ongoing diplomatic engagement between Tehran and Washington, Pezeshkian said Iran remains committed to demonstrating the peaceful nature of its nuclear activities. “We are ready to reassure the world that we are not seeking nuclear weapons,” the Iranian president was quoted as saying by local media.

While expressing openness to dialogue, Pezeshkian underscored that Iran would firmly defend its national interests throughout the negotiation process. He said the country’s negotiating team would continue discussions with determination but would not compromise on Iran’s “honour and dignity.”

The remarks come as international attention remains focused on efforts to resolve long-standing disputes surrounding Iran’s nuclear programme. The talks are viewed as a key test for improving relations between Iran and the United States and reducing tensions across the Middle East.

Iran has repeatedly maintained that its nuclear programme is designed for peaceful purposes, including civilian energy production and scientific development. Western governments, meanwhile, continue to seek guarantees and transparency measures aimed at ensuring that Iran’s nuclear activities remain exclusively civilian in nature.

Analysts say progress in the negotiations could have significant implications for regional stability, international sanctions, energy markets, and future diplomatic relations between Tehran and Western powers.
